1965 Established Thailand first Birth Control Research and Planned Parenthood Unit
Thailand first Birth Control Research and Planned Parenthood Unit was founded by Professor M.L. Kaset Sanitwong, M.D. and Associate Professor Aree Somboonsuk, M.D. on 7 January 1965. Service provided on the first year was Intrauterine device-IUD and was received a significant response from public more than ten thousand people. So, the next year they started to introduce oral contraceptive, injectable contraceptive and male- female sterilization. Services provided to the public at that time were focused on giving correct information and educating (Information, Education,Communicationor IEC) about parenthood planning.
