Cornea transplantation is the operation which remove the part of damaged or diseased cornea and replace by donated cornea. This operation will recover vision of blinded patients so they can be able to take care of themselves and have a better life again.
1959 the first cornea transplantation was introduced in Thailand. Professor Kobchai Promintarojana succeeded transplanted cornea to two patients and the cornea donor was blinded because of glaucoma but his corneas were in good condition. Later on, Thai Red Cross Society established Eye Bank in 1965 for eye donation from donor.
